Detailed Itinerary

Your safari begins with a flight from Entebbe International Airport aboard a scheduled Aero-link flight, available on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Departing at 12:30 PM, you’ll enjoy stunning aerial views of Uganda’s lush landscapes during the 2-hour flight to Kidepo. As you descend into the wild, you’ll be greeted by the rugged beauty of Kidepo’s vast savannahs and mountainous horizons.

Upon landing at Apoka Airfield at 2:45 PM, you’ll meet your driver-guide, who will whisk you to your lodge for check-in and a delicious lunch. After settling in, embark on an exciting afternoon game drive through the awe-inspiring Narus Valley. This picturesque valley is teeming with wildlife, including herds of Cape buffalo, African elephants, Jackson’s hartebeest, and the agile Klipspringer. With luck, you may also encounter predators like lions stalking their prey, or even a lone jackal hunting in the golden grasslands.

As the sun sets, casting a warm glow over the savannah, you’ll return to your lodge for evening relaxation. Enjoy a hearty dinner and an overnight stay at either Kidepo Savannah Lodge or Apoka Safari Lodge, where the night sounds of the African wilderness will lull you to sleep.

Overnight: Kidepo Savannah Lodge / Apoka Safari Lodge

On your second day, rise early to the crisp morning air and enjoy a nourishing breakfast before setting out on another thrilling game drive. Today’s adventure takes you through the expansive Kidepo Valley, where early risers like elephants, zebras, lions, and spotted hyenas roam freely. Keep your eyes peeled for elusive leopards, black-backed jackals, and other predators on the hunt.

As you traverse the park’s vast savannah, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Lomej Hills and the distant Lotukei Mountains that border Sudan. The park’s open landscapes, dotted with patches of Borassus palms, are a haven for birdlife. Look out for the striking secretary bird, the yellow-rumped seedeater, little weaver, and the broad-tailed warbler as they flutter through the grasslands.

After an exhilarating morning in the wild, return to the lodge for lunch and some well-deserved downtime. In the afternoon, venture deeper into the Kidepo Valley, near the South Sudan border, to visit the mystical Kanangorok Hot Springs. This natural wonder lies in a remote part of the park and is surrounded by the arid beauty of Kidepo. While exploring the area, you may spot the rare and endangered ostrich, though their numbers have dwindled due to poaching threats from across the border.

As the day draws to a close, you’ll return to your lodge for a relaxing evening, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen lodge.
