Detailed Itinerary

Your adventure begins with a pickup from Kampala by your driver-guide, who will brief you on the trip ahead. Depart early to reach Lake Mburo National Park in time for the day’s activities. Along the way, stop at the Equator to take memorable photos as you straddle the line between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Upon arrival at Lake Mburo, check into your lodge and enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to spot a range of wildlife, including impalas, Uganda kobs, zebras, giraffes, and various bird species. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Rwakobo Rock / Mihingo Lodge

After breakfast, set out on an early morning game drive to catch the park’s early risers. As you navigate the savannahs, look out for giraffes, zebras, topis, elands, and waterbucks, as well as the vibrant birdlife that calls Lake Mburo home. The drive also offers stunning views of the park’s landscapes.

Later, return to the lodge for lunch, then check out and drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. As you pass through the scenic Ankole region and the rolling hills of Kabale, you’ll experience some of the most beautiful landscapes in Uganda. Upon arrival in Bwindi, check into your lodge for dinner and a restful night.

Overnight: Buhoma Lodge / Mahogany Springs Lodge

On this exciting day, wake up early and prepare for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of gorilla trekking. After breakfast, your lodge will pack a lunch for your adventure. Head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the trekking rules and safety guidelines. You’ll then be divided into small groups and set off with guides and rangers into the dense forest in search of mountain gorillas.

The trek, which can take from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the gorillas’ location, will also allow you to encounter other wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and primates. Once you find a gorilla family, you’ll spend an awe-inspiring hour observing them as they go about their daily routines—feeding, playing, and grooming.

After this incredible experience, return to your lodge for relaxation. You can opt for an evening walk around the community or visit the Batwa Trail for a cultural experience before dinner.

Overnight: Buhoma Lodge / Mahogany Springs Lodge

After breakfast, check out and embark on a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, stop in the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions, and enjoy an en-route game drive. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot these majestic cats resting in the branches of fig trees.

Arrive at your lodge for lunch, then in the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This waterway is home to one of the largest concentrations of hippos in the world, as well as Nile crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes that gather on the shores. The boat ride offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching, with species like African jacanas and pelicans frequently spotted.

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Mweya Safari Lodge / Katara Lodge

After an early breakfast, head out for a thrilling morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Explore the park’s diverse habitats, where lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, and herds of buffalo roam. Watch as hippos return to the water after a night of grazing, and keep an eye out for the many bird species that inhabit the park.

Return to the lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon, you have the option to take a nature walk or visit the Katwe Salt Lake to learn about traditional salt mining. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast, check out and embark on a journey north to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, stop in Masindi for lunch. You can also opt to visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an up-close encounter with rhinos before continuing to the park.

Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive, where you’ll have a chance to see the “Big Four”—elephants, lions, buffaloes, and leopards—along with many other species of wildlife. Afterward, check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Paraa Safari Lodge / Nile Safari Lodge

Start your day with an early morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. This is the best time to spot predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas, as well as large herds of elephants, giraffes, and buffaloes.

After lunch, take an afternoon boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. Watch in awe as the mighty river squeezes through a narrow gorge, creating one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. The riverbanks are teeming with wildlife, including crocodiles, hippos, and various birds. 

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

On the final day of your safari, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out. Begin your journey back to Kampala, with a stop in Masindi for lunch. Your driver will drop you at your hotel in Kampala or take you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
