You’ll go to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in the south-western part of Uganda, close to the borders with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for 4 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Golden Monkey Safari. Mountain gorillas and golden monkeys are two of the wild animals that can be seen in the park when on a safari in Mgahinga. By extending your stay in Mgahinga national park, you can continue to hike on any of these three volcanoes, Sabyinyo, Muhavura, or Gahinga, or you can visit the Batwa trails as part of your activities in this area.

Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up from Kampala.
- On the first day of four days Uganda Gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari. Your safari driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Kampala, the city of seven hills, at 7:30 in the morning after breakfast or at Entebbe International Airport. The driver will first give you a briefing on the 4-day Uganda gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari. You will start your journey to the south-western part of Uganda, which should take you 9 to 10 hours. You will use Kampala- Masaka Road, and then stopping in Kayabwe Town at the Equator to view the experiment being conducted, take photos, and browse the nearby craft shops. After which proceed to Mbarara town for the lunch enroute. After lunch, you will drive through undulating hills, and a rewarding glimpse of the Ankole longhorn cattle. After arriving to the park in the late evening, you can check in at the lodge, have a relaxing evening, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking.
- On the second day of the four days Uganda gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari, you get up early, eat breakfast, with your packed lunch, meet your safari guide and then be driven to the park’s briefing location to learn about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be divided into different groups of 8 people per group together with the well experienced park ranger that is familiar with the park trails you will start looking for the mountain gorillas in the jungles. There is a good potential that you will see other wildlife in the forest while hiking. Gorilla trekking takes you from 30 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are. Once you’ve found them, you have an hour to observe them, learn about their way of life and behaviours, and take pictures. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking.
- On the third day of the four days Uganda gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari, you rise up early, eat breakfast, and with your packed lunch before being driven to the park’s headquarters by the safari guide for rules and regulations to do during golden monkey trekking, where a ranger will provide you with information about the Golden Monkey Trekking. After the briefing, the ranger will lead you on a walk up to look for golden monkeys, which are only found in Virunga volcanoes of the Mgahinga gorilla national park. Porters will also accompany you to assist those in need. You’ll start looking for them, and once you do, you’ll offer hikers an hour to watch as they swing on tree branches while feeding. Returning to the starting place after descending. Then you will connect to Batwa trails which are quite rewarding and interesting as you will meet the Batwa people who survived in the forest with mountain gorillas in harmony during those ancient years, interact with them, enjoy their traditional dances, visit their traditional home stands. After your safari guide will transport you to your lodge for dinner, evening relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Return to Kampala city/Entebbe Airport.
- On your final day, you will have a leisurely morning, a hearty breakfast, and some delectable snacks before leaving Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and returning to Kampala. You will stop at Mbarara town along the way for lunch enroute and have the opportunity to visit the Igongo Culture Centre to learn more about Ankole culture. After continuing our journey, we will drive to Kampala City, and your safari guide will drop you at your convenient place either at Entebbe International Airport or at your hotel.
