Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary

Begin your journey with an early morning pickup from Kampala, where you’ll meet your safari guide for a briefing on the upcoming adventure. Set off on a scenic 6- to 7-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, you’ll make a stop at Kayabwe, the site of the equator crossing, where you can take part in a fun equator experiment and snap memorable photos. Feel free to pick up a few souvenirs from the local artisan shops before continuing your journey along the Masaka road.

Lunch will be enjoyed at the Igongo Cultural Centre, where you'll savour authentic Ugandan cuisine served by warm and welcoming staff. The cultural centre also offers a glimpse into Uganda’s heritage, with sculptures, a museum, and a bookstore adding to the experience.

As you continue your journey, the lush tea plantations in the Ishaka region will greet you with serene and rolling vistas. Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, you’ll check in to your lodge—either the luxurious Mweya Safari Lodge or the mid-range Parkview Safari Lodge. The rest of the evening is yours to relax and take in the natural beauty surrounding you, followed by a delicious dinner and restful overnight stay.

The second day begins with an early breakfast before you head out for a thrilling game drive in the Kisenyi plains. With your experienced guide at the helm, venture into the park's expansive savannah, where you'll encounter a wide variety of wildlife. Look out for elephants majestically roaming the plains, herds of buffalo grazing, and graceful giraffes striding across the landscape. Lions may be spotted lounging under acacia trees, and on a lucky day, the elusive leopard might make an appearance. The park is also home to several species of antelope and a wealth of birdlife, including the cattle egret, black kite, and Hadada ibis, adding to the richness of your experience.

After an exciting morning of wildlife viewing, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch, recharging for the next highlight of the day.

In the afternoon, embark on a serene boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is a haven for aquatic birds such as long-tailed cormorants, pelicans, Egyptian geese, and little egrets. Keep your eyes peeled for hippos surfacing in large schools, crocodiles basking on the riverbanks, and elephants quenching their thirst at the water's edge. The Kazinga Channel offers a close and intimate look at the park’s vibrant ecosystem.

After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for dinner, followed by an evening of relaxation under the starlit African sky.

As you make your way back to Kampala, take a refreshing break at Kitagata hot springs in Ishaka-Bushenyi. These natural springs are famed for their healing properties, and you can even boil eggs in the hot water for a fun and unique experience.
