Detailed Itinerary

Your adventure begins with pickup from Kigali International Airport or your hotel. After a safari briefing, you’ll embark on a city tour of Kigali, visiting the Genocide Memorial, vibrant city markets, and the former Presidential Palace Museum. 

Afterward, journey to Nyungwe National Park, a five-hour drive through Rwanda’s stunning countryside, with a stop for lunch en route. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and relax before dinner.

   Luxury: Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Start early with breakfast before heading out for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park. Trekking can take between two to six hours, but once you find the chimpanzees, you’ll spend a magical hour watching them play, feed, and interact. You’ll also spot other wildlife along the way, including colobus monkeys and various bird species.

After lunch back at the lodge, experience the Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a thrilling opportunity to see the forest from above and observe the rich biodiversity from a new perspective. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll check out and drive to Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s scenic hills and verdant landscapes, with a stop for lunch along the way. Check into your lodge in the late afternoon and unwind as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. In groups of eight, you’ll trek through the misty jungle, searching for mountain gorillas. Once you locate a gorilla family, you’ll spend a remarkable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

After your trek, return to the lodge for lunch, then visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, where former poachers now work as conservationists. Learn about their efforts to protect the gorillas and enjoy traditional Rwandan dances before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.

On your final day, set out on an early golden monkey trekking excursion. These playful primates are known for their curiosity and often come close to visitors. Spend an hour with the golden monkeys, capturing incredible photos and memories.

Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch, check out, and begin your drive back to Kigali. Depending on your schedule, you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel, marking the end of your incredible 5-day Rwanda safari.
